General Update

January 22, 2009

It has been a few weeks since I have visited the blog.  I just thought I would spend a couple minutes trying to justify my absences by giving you a short update of some things that have gone on.

Mexico–Last week I went to Mexico with three other church leaders to map out our Mexico mission trip.  It was awesome to visit with some of the children again.  I miss them all and can’t wait to go back.

Snow–Been hanging out with the family watching it snow.

Church Plant–On Sunday we had our final Town Hall meeting about the new church plant.  We are excited that it looks like the church will vote on Feb. 1 at the conclusion of both worship services.  It is exciting.  If things work out it will be a very busy two months trying to get everything in place here at WBC.  Please pray for our transition time.  I love the children and youth here and will miss them tremendously.

Youth D-Now–Our Youth D-Now is around the corner and we have been working hard to iron out the details.

Home–Trying to fulfill my biblical role as a husband and a father.

I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to more post soon.  I’m currently reading “Hunger for God,” by John Piper so look for a quote from that book on Monday.

Mexico

January 12, 2009

I’m heading to Mexico tomorrow, EARLY. I’m going to leave the house about 3:45am. I’m pumped to see the kids and hang out with them, but the main assignment is to decide what we will be doing with the youth when we head down there this summer.

I’ll have some time on the plane this week so I’m promising that next weeks quote will be one of the best ever. Come back.

Have a good week.
Matt

Monday Quote

January 5, 2009

A few notes:

  • Happy New Year!!!
  • Three New Year Goals: 1.)  Drop some pounds 2.)  Memorize the Book of Colossians 3.)  Run the Krispy Kreme challenge.
  • Jennifer started back to school today, I’m going to miss seeing her and Noah at lunch.
  • Going to start teaching tennis regularly again.  I better dust off the racquets.

I thought about making some sort of New Year’s resolution about blogging more often.  I know people visit more often and stuff like that, but don’t expect more than one or two a week.

I don’t know if I have used today’s quote or not, I need some kind of tracking system, but even if I have it is a good reminder for me.

“What people need from me are not clever sermons, but personal holiness.”                       -Robert Murray

Welcome back to the real world after the Holiday’s.
