Monday Quote

August 25, 2008

A few notes:

  • Back for my first full week of work since the baby was born.  I was in and out last week, but will log plenty hours this week.
  • We have set the Fall schedule and it is going to be exciting.  Need to add one more mission project, any suggestions?
  • Many have asked if I am getting any slee, but the truth is I often sleep through the night while my wife takes care of the baby.  She is a servant and I am a slacker.
  • Speaking of servant, our youth theme for the year is GIVEAWAY.  When I first announced it some where pumped about the stuff they were going to get.  They will soon learn their part will be giving and not receiving.
  • Football starts this week!!!!

Monday Quote

At camp this year one of the Crosspoint staff happened to be a camper at Judson College in 2002 when I was on Crosspoint staff.  It was great to sit and talk about camp, his days as a camper and my days on staff.  It was great to talk about loading and unloading the Budget, campers, and other memories.  Since camp I have now connected with him on facebook and checking out his favorite quotes I ran across some I’m wanted to share with you.

“I don’t fear failure.  I fear being successful at things that don’t matter.”

                                                 -Bob Warren

I wanted to throw out another quote, but there is enough there for us to consider.  Hope you have a great week.

Back at work

August 20, 2008

Well it is Wednesday August 20th and I’m back at church.  It has been an exciting week and half.  Today is was really difficult to leave the house, I would have been more than happy to spend another day hanging with the family.  But I have plenty I need to do here and am excited about getting things rolling.

I’m sure I will have many blogs about our first born in the weeks to come.  In case you haven’t heard he was born Monday, August 11th at 6:42 PM and weighed 7lb 12oz.   He showed up about 2 1/2 weeks early.

I have some good quotes ahead and was tempted to use a couple today but I will wait.  Hope everyone is doing well.

A few notes:

  • Just got back from kid’s camp on Friday.  Had a good week, I will miss the hanging with the kids, but I won’t miss searching for name tags and room keys.
  • I think I have finally gotten to the point where I can attend camp without missing the days as a staffer.  Some of it has to do with getting older I don’t know how I kept those hours for 10 weeks.
  • Preached on Sunday.  It marked the 3rd Sunday in a row I got to preach.  We are in our Hebrews 12 series and this week we talked about the sin that so easily entangles us.
  • August has finally arrived and Noah will be here soon!

Today’s quote comes from Erwin McManus and his book “Uprising.”  I know some might not agree with all McManus says and does, but I like reading his work and his passion to make devoted Christ follower.

“The moment you know what God wants of you is the moment to do it.  He doesn’t expose sin in our lives so we can take care of it later.  When God speaks, it requires immediate attention.  We might be tempted to put things off until it’s easier to deal with them.  We might hesitate in an attempt to minimize the consequences. ”

Hope everyone has a great week.
